Sorry....

Sorry that I have bad news...the doctor said it's cancer of the kidney and has spread throughout his body especially in the bones. The prognosis...it's not cureable. These are just estimations from the doctor...4-6 months without treatment...He's been given morphine pills to help with the pain so he doesn't build up a toxicity to tylenol that is in the lortabs which aren't doing the trick anyway. The doctor's office is trying to get approval for the "Sutent" pills and after on them three months another bone scan whole body is done to see if the cancer has stopped growing. If it has, it will give him another one to two years. Sutent runs $3-4000 a month without insurance. We are to call the doctor's office tomorrow (Thursday) to see if it got approved. He doesn't feel having the rod put in his arm will do any good but we will be making an appointment to see what the bone specialist says. It could be too risky.
The hardest part for him was having to tell the girls over the phone...each of us on different extensions in the house while they were told and then he gave the call over to me so I could tell the girls more info or answer any questions they might have and crying along with them too. Charli said she needed to get Gary and the girls together and let them know what was going on and with the girls having a four days weekend...it will help get them adjusted somewhat to the news before going back to school on Monday. Tamra only had her roommate and surprise she came home for the night...yeah, she'll be doing a turn around in the morning so she can get to work at 8 a.m. He got up just now and saw she was home and asked what she was doing here and she said it was more for her...to adjust to the news.
I've broken down in the doctors office a couple of times...on the road coming home...grocery store when the clerk asked how he was...since she knows us...and off and on all evening. My sister called tonight and he talked with her for a short bit and then I did...it was hard and I asked if she would call mom. We still have to tell his mom tomorrow and that's even going to be hard too.
Not sure what else to tell you or say right now...much luv to all and continue the prayers that his pain lessens and that the meds get approved and work so we have more time with him and quality time for sure...I'm rambling again.
gOOD nIGHT... <3
