Close...
We were totally surprised when he got sick last night and not sure what brought it on but doing good today...He slept better last night for a change closer to four hours instead of waking every few hours all night...and he hasn't been able to stand on his right leg much today as it has really been bothering him along with both his shoulders...
I got up this morning and he was trying to figure out the laptop and play the music and play solitaire but couldn't figure how and where to go...so he was playing mahjong's and he said he was having a hard time figuring how to play it...some of the tiles wouldn't move so he gave up...I showed him some stuff on the laptop when I got up...I told him I liked playing spider solitaire and jewel quest...
Well, the ramp is still green and we are still covering it up for a few more days...looks nice, blends right in with what is already there...
His workman's comp check was a few days late and when he opened...it was short...so I put a call into the insurance office and they called back with the explanation of the 16Th was the last day for a check until he's re-evaluated on January 8Th by a state workman's comp doctor for his broken arm to determine if the case is to remain open or close it...so in the mean time, no income coming in until ????...so, until workman's comp makes a determination he can't have work start his short term disability...hope this doesn't take too long...we figured he'd continue to get a check every two weeks until they made a determination after seeing the doctor...the appointment is in Vegas so I hope he can make that long trip...Georgetown is bad enough...it really wears him out and to sit that long hurts his hip/leg...
Well, I guess that's all the updates and I'll close til next year...much luv to everyone and be safe...:D

New Ramp...

A new concrete ramp...a friend of his and some other guys came over this morning and started laying concrete after they staked out the fiber board forms....took about three hours but due to wet they had to skred the concrete to help it settle before covering for the night and for sure the next four to five nights...my understanding it'll help keep its own heat while curing and in three days take off the forms and he says the third day it the most important...don't understand it all but learning...he used to work in a concrete business...it looks nice with the curve in the sidewalk...will post pic in few days...
I had to laugh...I said now maybe he can get out more and we can go for drive often to get him out on short trips so he doesn't get wore out...ha...someone popped off...lol...said he could drive his chair over to street mailbox and check the mail...I didn't think about that one!!!!
He was feeling a bit off yesterday afternoon/evening...not sure why...he might have over done it by being on his leg too much...see he's been trying to use his cane or crutch to help keep the muscle strength up as much as possible...or then again it's going into the second week of second round of the "Sutent" medicine...been keeping track of his vitals off and on...okay but BP's a little high...but no headaches, dizziness or anything...still bit off today but slept alot too in between the guys here for the ramp...he's doing better tonight...his appetite doing pretty good...he was hungry for my taco soup...so I made it and it hit the spot for him...yummmmm
ok, so here it is if anyone wants it:
TACO SOUP...
1-pound hamburger browned & drained
1-sweet onion chopped browned
add and mix all together after above 2 items...
1-can yellow corn
1-can pinto beans
1-can red kidney beans
1-can black beans
1-can hominy yellow or white or both
1-can navy beans
1-can diced tomatoes (optional)
Juice and all from cans....
1-pk taco seasoning mix
1-pk Hidden Valley Ranch the original salad and seasoning mix
1-bottle tomato juice(I use half the day I fix and then on 2nd day
add more sometimes to thin down...to taste for thick or thin
consistancy...
and simmer on low for 1-2 hours...serve with
shredded cheese/diced onions on top, tortilla chips or in bread bowls,
crackers, etc....I've given the recipe to my son-in-law and he puts his
own variation/twist to it...!!!!
As I had the slight fever 99.1 which I've been known to have over the years with the sarcoidosis...a bit off and on too...then I pulled the muscle in leg/hip area when shifting body on couch last night...(I was concerned on how he was feeling)...ouchhhh that it hurt....finally, after an hour I went into bed at 1 a.m. and zonked right out...I have been careful all day and used my cane so it wouldn't affect my knee...feeling pretty good tonight just slight tenderness in area...
Well, not much else...everyone take care and enjoy your weekend...night 8]

Spruced up for Christmas...

He got spruced up this morning for Christmas...I clipped his hair all off as it was getting too long and he shaved...showered and he felt better but wore himself out...he has that baby soft face when he's shaved...love it :D...He had made a comment that he thought the sutent was working and that he would show me after getting cleaned up...
He has this spot on the top of his hand probably about the size of a nickle now (looks like a brown spot or maybe what looks like could be skin cancer)
and he says it was bigger than that before starting the sutent...I had seen it but hadn't realized it was getting smaller...what brought it up was I noticed he had a mole looking spot that was broke open like maybe he clipped it while cutting his hair and he said he hadn't...plus we got him weighed to see if he had lost any more weight since at the doctors October 30th...he has dropped down another 20 pounds...at the start he was 189 back on October 4th...he's down to 163 pounds...
I ran some errands soon afterwards and when I got back I had missed his brother and wife...and our neighbor had stopped in with a flan...she is really a good cook/baker...it is delicious...
I got busy doing other things as well while he napped...banana chipper cookies, peppermint chocolate chex party mix...really good...made a "Killer Kaluha Dbl Chocolate Bundt cake" for the neighbor...made potato salad for the Christmas dinner that will go with the ham...rolls, baked beans, cranberry celebration salad, pumpkin pie....uhhhmmmm....there will be five of us for dinner...
Just relaxing after getting all of it done and playing card game and listening to music while waiting for everyone to sack out...pulled out a couple presents that have been hidden...
Again, apologies if no one understands what I am writing but I write what thoughts come to mind and when I re-read it makes since to me...
I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas.....God Bless You All on this B E A U T I F U L Day....good night....

Asking of Prayers...
He says he not feeling too hot today, took a loritab that had extra tylenol in it but still off today...he has eaten good and plenty of fluids as well...just gots to be the sutent...he said he felt pretty good on those two weeks when he was off of the sutent...but knows he needs to give it a chance to work...
Well, depending on the weather we may wait til Monday to get his labs done...I may cancel my wound clinic appt for Friday as snow due up around Georgetown...we'll see...
Oh, by the way from yesterday to today after changing the dressing, the opening is the size of a q-tip end...whoo hoo...maybe I'll be let got Friday if I go then....:D
Wow Christmas almost here...May all yours Christmases be BRIGHT...much luv to all...

Power out...
Finally, close to 2 a.m. the power came back on and I finally got up and shut off the Christmas tree and took extra cover off him so he wouldnt wake up too hot...but stayed on the love seat rest of night...not sure how power was going to be...lol...
He started back on the "Sutent" Thursday and he can tell as it's leaving a nasty taste in his mouth again...and a bit constipated but we're working on it to make sure he stays regular like doctor says...I pretty much fix what sounds good to him or what he thinks he can eat...I fixed hamburger patty, mashed tators and coleslaw the other night and it hit the spot with him...fixed him cinnamon bread french toast this morning...no leftovers I think the kids finished it off after him and I laid down to take a nap this morning after breakfast...
Back over Thanksgiving, I told you our oldest Charli and I went Christmas shopping for a neighbor family...well, Secret Santa delivered tonight....tehe tehe tehe...waited close by to see what might be said....ahhhhhhhhh, it was so cute...one of the younger girls opened the door and said there were presents and you could tell she was taking them in and the mother was saying something to the lit'l one and the door was closed...but a few minutes later the lit'l one came back out and said something and I asked Shaun what she said cause he was laughing a bit...she said, "Thank you SANTA, Thank you Santa". That was so cute...Hoping this will make there Christmas a little brighter since their daddy away getting medical help...and mommy only worker...family member renting room from her...well, ummmmmmmmm wonder if any more "pay it forwards" can be done...
The "Piano" song is playing again....still makes me feel like I'm dancing around the room with Tim...
He gets more blood work on Wednesday but it's only once a month now unless doctor changes his mind with a phone call to us...sounds like he's antsy tonight...and cold so kicked up the heater one degree...and with Christmas just a few days away...I wish EVERYONE the Best of CHRISTMAS'S ever with Family and Friends...much luv to you all...

I know...
We have learned to keep his bowels going daily or it throws his body off in that he isn't hungry or feels not like eating much. We are learning a lot of different things with this cancer. Making sure he gets plenty of liquids especially water so his kidneys aren't overworking since that is where the cancer started from.
When he's not sleeping, he tries to occupy himself with TV but there really hasn't been much on to watch...and I get movies from the library but nothing interest him...tried books-no, games-no...word puzzles-no...
We do have a friend/s who are going to put in a legal concrete wheelchair ramp so we can get him in and out easier to take maybe a ride to just get out (as we were talking this morn').
Due to the weather we are having, I cancelled my wound clinic appointment today. I didn't feel like traveling on these roads in this wet, cool weather...suppose to be getting some more...I will go to my appointment on Friday...it is down to once a week but this week will be week and a half...I have been changing the dressing daily and it's looking good and smaller...
I got laundry done yesterday but after trying to get him in the shower and cleaned up and fed I had not much energy left to try run the vacuum through the house...maybe today...
Our neighbor has been a sweetheart and couple times a week she has brought some food dish over for us...once it was tamales...those were sooooooooooo good.....then she brought over chicken burritos and they were good too....and jello and then sunday what I thought was vegetable soup until I got to looking and ohhhhhhhhh my it had big pieces of fantail shrimp...so I would say fish chowder...it was sooooooooo good I had to share with ma (mother-in-law)...he doesn't like fish unless it's salmon filet or salmon cakes the way I fix...or tehe...gorton's fish stix and then they can't be fishy smell or soft...which sometimes they can be....I keep telling her she doesn't need to do this...
Okay I need to go and get my breakfast and shwr and etc today....I hope you all like the Christmas Pageant ...a friend sent that by email and I had to share....enjoy your dAY eVERYONE!!!!!!!
The Christmas Pageant...
My husband and I had been happily
Married (most of the time)
For five years
But hadn't been blessed with a baby.
I decided to do some serious
Praying and promised God
That if he would give us a
Child,
I would be a perfect mother,
Love it with all my heart
And raise it with His word
As my guide.
God answered my prayers
And blessed us with a son.
The next year God blessed us
With another son.
The following year,
He blessed us with
Yet another son.
The year after that we
Were blessed with a daughter.
My husband thought we'd
Been blessed right into poverty.
We now had four children,
And the oldest was only
Four years old.
I learned never to ask God
For anything unless I meant it.
As a minister once told me,"If you pray for rain,
Make sure you carry an umbrella."
I began read ing a few verses
Of the Bible to the children
Each day as they lay in their cribs.
I was off to a good start.
God had entrusted me
With four children and
I didn't want to disappoint Him.
I tried to be patient the day
The children smashed
Two dozen eggs on
The kitchen floor searching
For baby chicks.
I tried to be understanding...
When they started a hotel for
Homeless frogs in the spare bedroom,
although it took me nearly two hours
To catch all twenty-three frogs.
When my daughter poured
Ketchup all over herself and
Rolled up in a blanket to see
How it felt to be a hot dog,
I tried to see the humor
Rather than the mess.
In spite of changing over
Twenty-five thousand diapers,
Never eating a hot meal
And never sleeping for more
Than thirty minutes at a time,I still thank
God daily for my children.
While I couldn't keep my promise
To be a perfect mother -
I didn't even come close...
I did keep my promise
To raise them in the Word of God.& nbsp;
I knew I was missing the mark
Just a little when I told
My daughter we were going
To church to worship God,
And she wanted to bring
A bar of soap along to
"wash up" Jesus, too.
Something was lost
In the translation when
I explained that
God gave us everlasting life,
And my son thought it was
Generous of God to give
Us his "last wife."
My proudest moment came
During the children's
Christmas pageant.
My daughter was playing Mary,
Two of my sons were shepherds
And my youngest son was a wise man.
This was their moment to shine.
My five-year-old shepherd
Had practiced his line,
"We found the babe wrapped
In swaddling clothes."
But he was nervous and said,
"The baby was wrapped
In wrinkled clothes."
My four-year-old "Mary" said,
"That's not 'wrinkled clothes,' silly.
That's dirty, rotten clothes."
A wrestling match broke out
Between Mary and the shepherd
And was stopped by an angel,
Who bent her halo and lost Her left wing.
I slouched a little lower
In my seat when Mary
Dropped the doll representing
Baby Jesus, and it bounced
Down the aisle crying,
"Mama-mama."
Mary grabbed the doll,
Wrapped it back up
And held it tightly as
The wise men arrived.
My other son stepped forward
Wearing a bathrobe
And a paper crown,
Knelt at the manger
And announced,
"We are the three wise men,
And we are bringing gifts
Of gold,
Common sense
And fur.
"The congregation
Dissolved into laughter,
And the pageant
Got a standing ovation.
"I've never enjoyed a Christmas
Program as much as this one,"
Laughed the pastor,
Wiping tears from his eyes.
"For the rest of my life,
I'll never hear the
Christmas story without
Thinking of
Gold,
Common sense
And fur."
"My children are my pride
And my joy and my greatest
Blessing," I said as I dug
Through my purse for an aspirin.
Jesus had no servants,
Yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree,
Yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines,
Yet they called Him Healer.
Had no army,
Yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles,
Yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime,
yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb,
yet He lives today.
Feel honored
to serve such a Leader
who loves us.

Nice to see...
The doctor's office called and said the new script for loritab was called in and to see how he does for pain on this again and to call on Monday...the Sutent arrived today ready for him to start the second round on Dec 18th...
I feel like we are doing a "Pay it Forward"...with all that we are going through we are managing to help others as well...he's offered our home to Shaun and his dad (Ken in still in SLC) if need be and he's even offered our home to Charli and her family in Indiana...worried bout making ends meet and every time he tries to do or look he feels its not good enough...last five years being rough with the passing of his mom and dad and nanna...the economy...Tim has told him to pack it all up and come out here at least they would have a roof over their heads and we'd all be together...Charli surprised her dad with her coming out and made him happ:D and in turn a young lady did a b e a u t i f u l job on her hair and Tylee didn't realize she made Charli happ:D too and into turn Charli gave Tylee a thank you card and photos of her new hair color and said to use in her portfolio for future hair clients...so they could see what she can do...make Tylee happ:D...when Charli was here we went Christmas shopping at late night for a family in the neighborhood who is in need and try to make the christmas for the kids a lit'l better for them...
Tam and Shaun are headed for SLC this weekend to see his dad and find out what the doctors can do for Ken and/or when he will be coming home...Pray that the two have a safe trip up and back...she will be finished with finals this week...
Pray for the sisterly friend of Tam's that she takes care of herself and that lit'l one she's carrying...she will be happ:D when she gets the gift I asked my mother to make for her....and I do hope she likes it...I still have to finish something for her lit'l one...I still have a month and a half to go....
I better be getting off here...tomorrow is going to be here before you know it and I have to run and get stuff from store and pick up meds...just want everyone to be happ:D and safe...and have a... b e a u t i f u l ...day tomorrow!....mwah

Good sleep...
He's kept 7up down and had water and its has stayed down...he laid down for bout an hour and got up and took next dose of loritab...he said he is doing okay with pain...no break through pain...and asked for couple eggs and toast...yes, he has kept that down and I think he is back to being his normal self as much as he can be with the cancer....
I will call K in a little while and let her know his progress...maybe he won't need the home health nurse to come in and give him an IV drip for fluids...and get script called in for loritab to get him thru the weekend and call K again Monday on his progress and let her know how he is doing...
Continued prayers are appreciated for this setback and his strength for energy and that the second round of Sutent is doing it's job and slowing down the cell growth...
Everyone have a sUpEr DuPeR DAY!!!!!! I'll keep ya posted...by:D

Allergy to meds...
I went to the wound clinic today as I missed Friday's appt. since he was sick and Mandi is happ:D with the way my shoulder is healing...doing a different dressing with more breatheable gauze and changing every day has made a difference...it has gotten smaller since last Tuesday and will continue to change dressing every day and use and antibiotic ointment...just a faint smear and gauze/tape...don't need to go in til next Tuesday but still have appts scheduled for Fridays but will cancel if don't need them...I could very well be done by Christmas???!!...I hope...but sad at the same time...everyone in the wound clinic is so....I can't seem to find the right word...I love them all and they are that good and concerned with your recovery and I especially love Mandi....
So after the wound clinic, I walked down to the doctors office for him and left message to have K call later in day so I wouldn't miss her call while driving back from my appointment...what other options do we have to try...he's refusing to go to the ER...
K called later this evening early and said from the sounds of it that he has an allergy to morphine...to STOP taking anymore and go back on loritabs and call to let her know how he is doing...if doing okay on loritabs get new script to help him get through the weekend and see how he is doing...he had no problem with loritabs but not sure that will be strong enough for his pain...it's getting more so in his right leg/hip/groin area...K will see about a home health nurse to come in and give him an IV drip to push fluids back into him and make sure he gets hydrated properly...otherwise, he is doing good holding his own except for this setback...
We are expecting his second round of Sutent tomorrow to be delivered by FEDEX and start on December 18th for 4 weeks and off 2 weeks again...it better be worth it at $7000 a whack...even though we only pay $20 copay...sorry, sometimes I feel irritated/frustrated...I don't like to see him this way...as I was driving back home today from Georgetown a thought came to me....that because of his hardships and pain his has suffered in his life my thoughts were that I would want him to be the first to go home and not have to suffer anymore and yet that is almost funn:( NOT...he is still having to suffer...I am there for him and will continue to be...I will be on the love seat again tonight and help him get through the night and get him back on track and start the loritab...something that doesn't make him sick to his stomach....we were hoping for a quality of life through all this...not what is happening...guess that can't be when terminal...you never know from one day to the next how his day will be...try to make his as comfortable as possible and think of different things that he might be able to eat/drink...
It's after midnight...I guess I'd better get off here and get some rest myself...he's laying awake watching a christmas show on Hallmark...it looks like it's going to be a long night til his system is cleared up...we'll both be napping for sure tomorrow or rather today...take care everyone and be safe...Good nIGHT...

Doing Better...
I slept on the love seat Friday night...he said he wanted someone with him 24 hours until he pulled himself out of the stupor he was in...he didn't like the way he was feeling from the meds...and every nausea meds doesn't seem to be working...I took the pain patch off Friday around 12:30 p.m. and the doctor on call said to give it about six hours and if he improved then we knew what med was the culprit...guess what it was the pain patch...but also he decided on his own to back off everything cold turkey and you're not suppose to do that...so I went with his wishes and stuck with him night and day since Friday to get through this...I even said if he didn't try to sip more he was going to the ER...NO, I'm NOT...slowly got liquids in him and lit'l bits of food more fruit pieces and jello...sips of sprite...got him 7-up today...
He's back to his talking in his sleep again...rambling a mile a minute, think he was going to sleep and within a few minutes he started in again...especially Friday night when I slept in family room on love seat...I think I might have gotten 2 hours sleep and then I slept more during the day when he was sleeping...and just as bad when he wasn't taking any meds...this morning is the first time he decided to take a 1-8 hour morphine pill (time released) and he was really hurting and didn't want to do anything or whatever except get up to use the bathroom...it was a easier for me to give him a sponge bath in the bed and kept telling him to let me do the lifting or holding his leg that hurt and automatic reaction for him was to help...
In his sleep talks, he has mentioned several times he wants to be here for his wife and the girls but it's hard and he hurts and don't know that he can hang on...after getting him cleaned up and covering him up since he gets cold easy now...I was frank with him and said I don't want to sound selfish but I want him here for as long as possible but if he can't do it anymore that it was okay to go home...he said he knew but will be here as long as he can...it'll be hard for awhile but we'll be okay in time....that was so hard telling him and not cry....and it was odd because after he went back to sleep again...whoever he was talking to or with...said end of year or try to in New Year...I'm just a burden...but also something about they wouldn't be out til July again...I'm just guessing that he was talking about our oldest daughter and family as that is when they come out to visit every year...when he woke later on...I told him he wasn't a burden...
Today, his eating is more or at least he's trying but still dealing with the nausea...he's able to hold down 7up, water, applesauce, can fruit natural, jello, yes...and ice cream too in small amounts...everything is in small amounts...he had a lit'l amount of tomato mac...okay, for those who don't know tomato mac is his specialty that I learned about after we got together in 1985...elbow macaroni and tomato juice with whatever side you wanted like cold cuts, etc...or just crackers...he was able to get that down...for dnner he even asked for tuna fish and crackers...didn't work...he couldn't even get the one cracker with tuna on it down...so we tried a lit'l bit of chicken broth...wasn't sure that would sit on his stomach...waited and then had some pears...
Shaun's dad is still in SLC...doctors said he wasn't exactly a candidate for heart surgery but would see what they could do for him...so he's just waiting to see what they are going to do...Shaun's suppose to go up next weekend to take care of legal matters unless his dad calls and says to come get him now...
Wow, when it rain's it pours....Tamra headed back this evening so she could study for finals this week plus clean her dorm and have everything out by Saturday 13th noon or they get charged $100...so she is going to have a busy week and pray she does well with her finals and not worry too much bout her dad and future father in law...
Well, I think I've covered everything that's been going on...hope everyone has a safe week and not tooooo cold where ever you are...good night....

Feeling Hopeful....
We were feeling hopeful after seeing the doctor yesterday...the doc tweaked his meds and hopefully the talking in his sleep and nausea will be less...he was given a different stomach med other than prilosec called pantoprazole he's suppose to start that one this morning...he got a pain patch"fentanyl" good for three days and change out every three days to cut back on morphine pills that can cause the nausea and sleep talking...and a nausea pill called anzemet to see if it helps with the nausea and if does then he takes it along with sutent when he starts back on them on Dec 18th...he has taken sutent for 28 days and now he has to be off 14 days before he starts the second round of sutent...the blood tests are down from every week to once a month...and he goes back to see doctor on Jan 22nd...
I put the patch on him yesterday around 3pm and he cut back from 2 to 1 morphine pills that is timed released...but he's to taper back until the patch starts working...he said he wasn't in any pain this morning...and he wasn't going to take his morphine pill...just maybe the fast acting morphine pill...he didn't sleep talk but his snoring has picked up...some friends let us borrow their hospital bed...now he's able to raise his legs up if he wants but most definitely be able to sit up or lay flat if he wants...last night anyway he said it seemed to make a difference...thx for the use of the bed...even caught him laying on is side sleeping yesterday evening...not side of broken arm...
I get up this morning and he has been up for short bit and sweating like a dog ...no tempture tho...and throwing up...the only thing I can figure out is it's the sutent and not taking it for two days now...like how chemo can make you sick...after he's done he turns around and goes back to sleep...hasn't eaten yet, hasn't taken any morning meds, hasn't even drank any water, he doesn't even want me to call docs to verify that it is the sutent makin' him sick...might sneak a call into the special pharmacy that sends out the sutent by fedex to us and see what they say...
Needless to say, I cancelled my wound clinic appt. this morning and will see Mandi on Tuesday for sure...she has had me change my dressing out after Tuesday to see if it will help dry it up more instead of staying so boggy or wet...so far it looks good when and less wet when I've changed it out every day...we'll see how today looks later on...
Before I forget, on Monday he did get his own motor wheelchair...it's actually nicer in movebility and functions and a bit smaller and he can get into the bathroom with that one so the secretarial chair is now put away...
Shaun's dad is now in the hospital...went up early yesterday morning...the docs finally did an angiogram and he has the choice of going home to die or go to SLC for pacemaker...I gather he's a bit stubborn so hopefully his family convinced him cause Tam called this morning and said they were transporting Shaun's dad to SLC. So prayers are needed for his dad too...Tam has finals next week so pray she doesn't wipeout with everything that is going on...hint hint....future father-in-law....CORRECTION::::: just got a call from Shaun...his dad is going to SLC to see if he is a candidate for a artificial heart or heart transplant....
Well, I think that's all for now...so enjoy your TGIF day and hope you all have a B E A U T I F U L SUNN:D WKEND....
